The Oldest Vine
One of the most famous sights in Maribor is the oldest vine in the world, around 440 years old, growing on a building that also houses a museum. It is one of the oldest indigenous grapevine varieties in Slovenia. It is called Modra kavčina or Žametna črnina.
Maribor castle
Maribor Castle stands on the northeastern edge of Maribor’s old town center and is considered the most important architectural monument in the city. The castle itself is surrounded by Castle Square, Freedom Square, and General Maister Square, and inside it, you can visit the Maribor Regional Museum.


The Vinag Wine Cellar
The Vinag Wine Cellar stretches through the center of the city and is considered the largest and oldest classical wine cellar in Central Europe. Vinag continues its story from the past about winemaking, cellaring, and trade.

lent
Lent is one of the oldest and most picturesque districts in Maribor, stretching along the left bank of the Drava River. It is known for its charming promenade, where locals and visitors enjoy walking, taking in the view of the river, and sitting in numerous cafés and restaurants.
Maribor City Park
Maribor City Park is a popular spot for both relaxation and recreation. The park is home to around 100 native and foreign species of deciduous trees. Today, the entire park covers an area of 54 hectares and is located north of the city center.


Main Square
Main Square is the central city square in Maribor, which has recently been renovated, giving it a fresh, modern look while preserving its historical value. The square is now closed to traffic, allowing for a more pleasant and safe experience for pedestrians. It is surrounded by beautiful bourgeois buildings, among which the Town Hall (Rotovž) and the Plague Tower stand out, bearing witness to the city’s rich past.
Kalvarija
Kalvarija is a small hill above Maribor, 375 meters high, with the Church of St. Barbara at the top. You can reach Kalvarija via a walking path, and those more persistent can also take the stairs.


Piramida
A thirty-minute walk to the popular 386-meter-high point called Piramida, starting from the city park, will reward you with a stunning view of Maribor, Pohorje, and the Drava Valley. On a nice sunny day, you can even see Mount Peca from Piramida.
Pohorje
Pohorje is a popular natural destination for walkers and cyclists. During the spring, summer, and early autumn, you can ride down the PohorJeti on the snow stadium, which is especially known for the Golden Fox event. For those who enjoy adrenaline, the downhill track is the perfect choice. You can take the cable car to the top of the downhill track. In winter, the most popular ski resort for skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing is at Areh, where there is the most natural snow, as Areh is also the highest point of Maribor Pohorje.


The Lovrenška Lakes
The Lovrenška Lakes are among the high moorlands in Slovenia and are one of the most important bogs in Southern Europe. They are located at an altitude of around 1,500 meters.
Black Lake
Black Lake is crystal clear and lies at an altitude of 1,197 meters. The lake is of artificial origin and was created by damming water. It is surrounded by forests and hills, making it a popular destination for excursions and nature exploration.


Pohorje Tree Top Walk
At Rogla, you can find the Pohorje Tree Top Walk, which delights with its perspective of nature directly from the tops of the Pohorje spruces. The path among the spruces is 1,043 meters long and rises up to 20 meters high. Along the way, it impresses with adrenaline and educational stations, and at the end, it takes you to a 37-meter-high tower offering an unforgettable view of the Pohorje forests and valley. On sunny days, you can also admire the Slovenian Alps, with the highest mountain, Triglav.
